In high school I was introduced to the work of Mary Ellen Mark.
She changed how I viewed art.
She changed how I viewed the lives of my peers at that time.
In conjunction with our studies of her work, we had the opportunity to take a trip down to Ball State University to see her give a presentation.
I met her. I heard her. I understood.
If you have an extra hour and a half, check out this documentary.
It's about street kids in Seattle in the early eighties.
It was nominated for an Academy Award for best documentary--with reason.
